Hahaha Happy Jazza Face! Definitely recognizable, the way how you drew his face really fits the poster style of that time!

Very smart to make a recruitment poster so you don't need to draw an entire army. Wish I thought of this myself, haha! Very well done

GioolioDraws responds:

Thank you so much! <3

I love how you centred your art in a circle. The background purples are used as shades on the characters and the orange/red pops up. Very effective way to use colors and make them come together.

I like to give friendly advice on how to make the characters stand out individually. The woman in the long robe upper left in the circle has clear dark lines. Use the same thickness and lines on the rest of your characters. Then use a thicker line to outline each character. Then make a light outline next to the thicker dark outline you just did to make the characters 'pop'.

It is just a suggestion I like to make and you can do with it what ever you like. You can see what I mean on my entry for this contest.

Again, you did a great job here and your artwork will stand out with the color-theme you used. Well done!

Vanilla-Lemon responds:

Thanks so much, this is some great advice! I appreciate it a lot!

I love the way you used red in greyish colors and the soft glow of light. The drawing is effectively detailed and has very clean lined feel to it. I feel that this drawing has a lot of potential to make it more artsy, I really miss the challenge theme. The smokeyness could have been lightly colourful and maybe exhaust fumes of the aircrafts could be colored as well. The flags could have had white brushes on them and the army wearing brushes or so.
BUT I do understand that it won't complement the image itself and that you chose to do this to use in your art portfolio. This looks really professional and personally I prefer this over the choices you could have made to fit the contest.

KaoriYuki responds:

oh my goodness thank you so much!! ahh thank you so much for the suggestions, i appreciate it, will try it next time ^^ haha even i couldn't agree more that i do prefer this than what i could've done. but um, i guess i stuck with my guts haha~ thank you so much again <3 <3

Great style, that horse is magnificent! I won't be able to pull that off. Jazza is very recognisable.

Only thing what I would change is the position of the hand of the girl next to the horse. In her hand she is holding the brush but because you can't see the hand, I first assumed the brush was attaches to the side of the horse, second guess was it was growing out of the back of the guy in the front. Then I saw she was holding it. It is definitely not a big deal but easily adjustable to make the hand a bit higher so you can see her gripping the brush. But eh, now I feel guilty because it is just a minor detail not feeling fair to mention.

I love this piece and it really deserves the 5 stars full! Well done!

Lucas-Black responds:

Seems like a perfectly reasonable critique. I'll make the adjustment on my personal image. I don't think I'll have the time to fix it before the contest ends, but thanks, I agree with you.

very original way of thinking and using this perspective. I love the wooden mannequins.
Doing this traditionally really shows the effort put into this, well done!

I totally agree with the point you are making with this drawing. Before I went to school when I was 4, I was better in drawing than my older brothers and sister. But white papers got replaced for colouring pages where you had to draw within the lines. The way of using imagination has been taking away from me. I rediscovered my artistic talent when I was in highschool and surprised myself, my art teacher and classmates with an art piece that came from my hand. Now, years later I realize that the schoolsystem is not providing room for imaginary or creative development.

Do you know the famous artist M.C. Escher? I see you use very interesting perspectives in other art pieces too and I wonder if he inspires your art or maybe it will now! Look him up! I'll stop spamming now :)

Teschenemar responds:

Thank you for the kind words! Yes, I heard about him in 9th grade (something did "the system" good XD)
I always loved line perspectives... easy tricks to create something cool. And when I discovered (around Jan. 2018) that 5 point perspective existed I was like WHY NO ONE EVER TOLD ME ABOUT THIS?! And since then I can't stop using (or imitating) it.

As I was a child the etchings by Füle Mihály and Gross Arnold hanging on the wall of my grandparents inspired me (but more with the shading and style than the perspectives)... but to be honest, I love all kind of etchings ... and Vasarely's (Vásárhelyi Győző) op art.

This piece is so mighty clever! I tried to think of a way to use Photoshop tools in my piece too but I couldn't think of a way to use it effectively. You did an awesome job with thinking this one out as well as the execution itself. De blue against reddish color and the intriguing perspective is really eye-catching. Well done!

jensenchung responds:

Thank you so much for the compliments ^_^

I spent some time trying to figure out how to be creative and different since I imagined most people would do the "traditional paintbrush" so I wanted to try a different avenue :)

The perspective was definitely a tough one, plenty of reference required!

Thanks again :)

Im in love with your unique approach, you were thinking out of the box. This piece really stands out, well done!

PNestlang responds:

Thank you very much for your kind words :)

Artists you don't want to mess with. Very effective way of drawing aggressive body language and facial expressions. Those wooden dolls are very well drawn. Can't believe this is all made with traditional art supplies! Very well done

BenChrisCorbould responds:

Wow thankyou for the great feedback 😁

This piece makes me happy! I don't know if that is because of the very happy laidback laugh of the soldier in front who clearly likes to bazooka the world full of color or because of the colourful art piece itself. I really like the way you didn't use dark colors in this piece! I love it!

Contrololon responds:

Thank you!

This is magical, looks like it belongs on the cover of its own fairytale book! I want to land down there and live there my the rest of my life.
I love the way how the sun is reflecting on everything and the job you did on the upper left corner. That clear- plastic look turned out very well. This is very dreamy, well done!

synthie responds:

Thank you so much!! :)
